The Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) SOROH has offered free educational/medical services to the people of Diebu Community, in Southern Local Government Area of Bayelsa, on Friday.
The Commander, NNS SOROH, Commodore Nanmar Lakan, stated this during the exercise in Diebu, that the essence was to promote cooperation with the host community.
Our reporter gathered that educational materials and free medical services were given to the people of Diebu.
The Commander, said that the outreach was part of the navy’s corporate social responsibility to the civil populate.
According to him, it is with great pleasure that I welcome you all to this educational and medical outreach organised by the NNS SOROH, in Diebu community.
“This Initiative is part of NNS SOROH’s non-kenetic operations aimed at enhancing Civil Military Relations by providing valuable medical and educational assistance to the host community.
“Which aligns with the vision and strategic directive of the CNS Vice Adm. Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla.
“Diebu community was chosen for this rhapsody because of its proud history of producing leaders who have served our great nation in various capacities.
“Today’s outreach is part of the Nigerian Navy’s (NN) broad mandate, which extends beyond safeguarding our waters and national assets to ensuring the health, safety and development of the people, in riverine and coastal community like Diebu,” he said.
He said that the NN remains a key stakeholder in nation-building, and through initiatives like this, as he says they aim to strengthen the bond between the Navy and the community.
According to him, in the realm of education, we believe that knowledge is a key powerful tool for personal and communal growth. Education helps unlock opportunities.
“Empowers individuals and fosters a brighter future for the younger generation. That is why we have made concrete efforts to ensure that today’s programme.
“Include interactive sessions aimed at encouraging and supporting students providing them with essential materials and inspiring them to strive for excellence.
“On the medical front we recognise that access to quality healthcare remains a challenge for many in rural communities.
“Therefore this outreach brings healthcare professionals and services directly to the people of Diebu with a focus on preventive care, treatment of common ailments and health education.
“Our aim is to bring the gap in healthcare access and contribute to the overall well-being of this community,” he said.
The Commander, commended the leadership of Diebu community, for their warm reception and cooperation. Saying that their hospitality reaffirms the close ties between the Navy and the people of Southern Ijaw.
He urged the people to take full advantage of the services provided. That it is there sincere hope that the educational and medical assistance offered will leave a positive impact on the people.
