The international press centre (IPC), Lagos Nigeria, has expressed deep sorrow over the untimely passing of Evelyn Osagie, who until her demise served as a Senior Correspondent with The Nation Newspaper.
In a condolence message, IPC extended heartfelt sympathies to her family friends, and colleagues noting that her death is a painful loss to the journalism community.
The executive director of IPC, Mr. Lanre Arogundade, described Osagie as a distinguished journalist whose inclusive reports consistently amplified the voices of women.
According to him the death of Evelyn Osagie is a huge loss to the journalism community,she was a renowned journalist who through her inclusive reporting gave visibility to women and championed their causes,” Arogundade stated.
Furthermore IPC, Osagie’s journalism went beyond mere reportage it was advocacy that inspired conversations and actions toward social change.
Mr. Arogundade recalled her outstanding contributions during the recent European union supported IPC/NAWOJ interface in Port Harcourt, which focused on fostering inclusive newsroom environments for the reporting of women’s issues in electoral processes.
Evelyn not only participated actively but also made personal commitments, she pledged that The Nation would be at the forefront of projecting the voices of female politicians ahead of the 2027 elections, he added.
