Navy holds route march for personnal fitness, mental health,in Bayelsa

The Headquarters Central Naval Command has successfully conducted its fourth quarter route march of the year to ensure the physical fitness and mental health alertness of its personnel.

The ongoing walk kicked off from the Nigerian Navy Ship SOROH parade ground in Yenagoa on Saturday.

The march took off from the base down to Opolo roundabout, to Tombia roundabout then marching back to the base.

The exercise which lasted for about two hours and thirty minutes, had Commodore Nanmar Lakan, Commander Nigerian Navy Ship SOROH and other senior officers.

Speaking at the end of the route march, Rear Adm. Olusegun Soyemi, Acting Flag Officer Commanding, Central Naval Command, expressed his satisfaction over the turnout of the personnel and their efforts in ensuring the exercise was conducted successfully.

He noted that the aim of the exercise is to ensure that the officers and men of the Nigerian Navy are physically fit for the task they have been assigned to do.

According to him, the aim is to promote comradeship and for the populace to know that they have a Navy that is physically fit to carry out their assignment.

He said: “the Chief of the Naval Staff and by extension the flag officer commanding central naval command will continue to take interest in the welfare of every personnel.

“The Chief of Naval Staff is determine to ensure that your welfare is paramount, and everything concerning the issues of accomodation, allowances, health care.

“Everything concerning welfare have been adequately taking care of. However is just one thing the Navy ask in return, you must do your job.

“You must continue to do your job in the best of your ability, you must remain discipline, focus, the Chief of Naval Staff maintain zero tolerance for indiscipline, zero tolerance for any corrupt practice.

“So for those of you that are out there in the field conducting anti-crude oil patrol and anti-illegal bunkering patrol.

“Please remain steadfast in your duties, do not waver in your resolve to reed this country of all criminalities and I assure you that the Navy will reward each and everyone of you for your sacrifices,
