Fresh facts have emerged on an impending crack in the presidential campaign of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party. According to reliable information, over 25 support groups are on the verge of pulling out of the campaign for reasons bordering on the candidate’s high-handedness and his penchant for reeling false statistics.
According to reliable sources, it was stated that a meeting was scheduled between the support groups and the presidential candidate to iron out issues before action is taken.
“There is tension in our campaign council. Our presidential candidate does not seem to be in tune with reality on the ground, and he has consistently acted in a manner that makes things difficult for supporters to sustain the tempo in preparation for the elections.”
“He thinks this campaign is about him, and everything must be from him. He also does not carry others along in planning. Whenever he goofs in public, we are forced to defend him, which is increasingly becoming difficult.”
Another source, who is one of the personal aides of, Peter Obi, stated that the presidential candidate does not believe anybody can get anything right other than him.
“We have advised that he set up a research team to advise him on statistics and facts before making public statements, but all have fallen on deaf ears. My principal can be difficult sometimes.
“As we speak, there is tension. Over 25 support groups are threatening to pull out of our campaign because of the bashing we have been receiving in the public domain over inaccurate statistics. I can tell you that notable groups such as the Obi Nationalist Movement, Obidient New Nigeria Coalition and Peter Obi Amazons are on the verge of pulling out of the campaigns anytime soon.”
It was revealed that barring any last-minute change of mind; these groups would pull out of the Obidient campaign movement. This much was corroborated by a statement credited to Dr Rejoice Okey, a representative of some support groups, who stated that some groups would withdraw from the presidential campaign due to the inconsistency of the presidential candidate.
According to him, the groups are alarmed by the serial inconsistency of Peter Obi, which has caused untold embarrassment to its over 20 million followers across the country.
“It is sad that our presidential candidate is toeing the line of other politicians that promises the people heaven during campaigns and end up giving them hell after the campaigns. The penchant for churning out inaccurate statistics is deceitful and a deliberate attempt to deceive the people, which we are vehemently against.”
“We can no longer cope with this act of insensitivity to the sensibilities of the people. In the days and weeks ahead, we shall reveal our next line of action regarding the presidential candidate we shall support. I can tell you that the Peter Obi presidential aspiration is a dream we do not want to be a part of anymore.”
It would be recalled that the Labour party presidential candidate has been criticized for making blunders in the public space concerning statistics, which are often inaccurate. For example, Peter Obi’s claim that out of 150 players in the American NBA, almost 100 are Nigerians turned out to be incorrect.
Also, Peter Obi said he was awarded best governor in health care in Nigeria by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in 2013. This also turned out inaccurate, as he was recognized as the best-performing governor in eradicating polio in the southeast by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
