GOVERNOR GODWIN OBASEKI OUR SON, OUR PRIDE ….SO DECLARED THE KING AND PEOPLE OF EWOHIMI KINGDOM….
The Executive Governor of Edo state, His Excellency Godwin Obaseki and his Deputy Comrade Philip Shaiubu recent ward to ward campaign tour to Esan South East local govt area alongside the People’s Democratic party sept 19th 2020 campaign council led by The south South Chairman of the party Chief Dan Osi Orbih ( The Esama of Uromi kingdom) may have come and gone but the Glorious historic legacies and memories domiciled in the lives & land of Ewohimi kingdom has left an indelible mark in the sands of time.
The visit to Esan South East on Monday 17th and Tuesday 18th day of August 2020 ahead of the Governorship election coming up the 19th of September 2020 was aimed at enlightening the good people of the council area about the transformation agenda of the Executive Governor with the theme “Making Edo Great Again” (MEGA) with a view to solicit votes from the people and subsequently commission all completed government projects within the council area.
The Executive Governor / His Deputy and the entire campaign team having arrived the council area on Monday 17th August headed straight to Ward-9 (Illushi) which was closely followed by Ward-8 (Oria kingdom) beginning from the Royal palace where they were accorded warm reception by the traditional ruler His Royal Highness V E Oguamelu-11 alongside his council of chiefs who conferred on the Executive Governor Godwin Obaseki with a Chieftancy title as “OKUESANGBE” of Oria kingdom and his Deputy Comrade Philip Shuaibu “IDAGHE” of Oria kingdom respectively.
The Executive Governor and the entire campaign team navigated through ward-10 (Ugboha) to ward-7 (ubiaja south) Thereafter to ward-6 (ubiaja north) having paid a curtsey visit to the Royal palace of ubiaja kingdom earlier and were received by the Onojie of Ubiaja kingdom His Royal Highness Curtis Iredia Eidenojie-1 before proceeding to the various ward’s rally grounds and that ends the day-1 of the Campaign team to the Council area.
Day-2( Tuesday 18th August 2020)…According to Prof William Rutherford ” We Cannot afford to be pursuing very Good where Excellent is Possible” was the actual slogan and songs in the heart and mouths of the people of Ewohimi kingdom as they took their turns to elougise the Executive Governor Godwin Obaseki who they described as excellent, their Hero and Pride.
Preceding the visit was Monday the 17th of August as the entire Okaigben community in Ewohimi the ancestral home of the Council Chairman Hon Peter Iziogie Aguele was agog following the message from the village town- cryer the previous night. The entire Okaigben community was saturated with a scenario that best replicate the days of New Yam Festival as of old according to the ancient novel ” Things Fall Apart ” by late prof Chinua Achebe as the beauty of the entire community was Glory that can best be experienced than imagined leaving everyone with preparations for the Governors visit the next day.
The country home of the Great AGUELES ( Home of the Council Chairman) became a theatre of an extra-ordinary resort as visitors trooped in from other parts of the kingdom to be part of history making event. Natural palm wines were not short in supply as the palm wine- tapers volunteered their best in honour their Hero. It was almost a cultural fiesta as different cultural groups took advantage of the celebration to demonstrate their latest dance steps. The Igbabonelimhin group (Acrobatics) were not left out as they also took their turn and danced all through the night in keeping vigil ahead.
It was now Tuesday as the council Chairman Hon Peter Iziogie Aguele, His Wife Mrs Isi-Peter Aguele, family members, friends, political associates and the entire Okaigben people took to the streets, danced from one street to another while on reaching the Agbado market, market women all over trooped out of the market to join the council Chairman Hon Peter Iziogie Aguele their darling son in demonstrating their latest Owanbee/ Asonogun dancing steps in response to the music ” If e- no be Godwin Obaseki, me I no go vote” meaning I will not vote unless it’s Godwin Obaseki. shortly after, all the motorcyclists (Okada Riders), commercial drivers, youth, men & women ably led by the council Chairman himself danced all through the streets to receive Their Excellencies Governor Godwin Obaseki/Comrade Philip Shaiubu and the campaign team who arrived the Royal palace Ewohimi at Exactly 11;39am alongside top dignitaries, state Executive council members, including members of both state and federal parliaments of Edo extraction arrived into the lovely arm of His Royal Highness Lord Peter Ojienoifo-11( The Onojie of Ewohimi kingdom) with the entire council of chiefs at his Royal palace Eguare- Ewohimi.
The traditional ruler described the Executive Governor as a man of his word who would always match his words with actions. He informed his excellency and team that Hon Peter Iziogie Aguele ( Council Chairman) and Sir (prince) Lewis Osobase are his children with whom he is well pleased and promised that come rain or shine, the people of Ewohimi kingdom will not let the Governor down, he further assured his excellency of his support for the Governor’s re-election and total victory come September 19th 2020, thereafter he prayed for the visitors and wished them well. While the Governor and the campaign team proceeded to the campaign venue at Idumojie primary school where he received large numbers of decampees from opposition parties as the All Progressives Congress from ward-1 (Council Chairman’s ward) ably led by The former organizing secretary Hon Bethuel Odigie collapsed it’s entire structure into the People’s Democratic party. Also recieved as decampee is a political stalwart from ward-1 Hon Dan Enebi.
The Executive Chairman of the council Hon Peter Iziogie Aguele the host who was in high spirit welcomed other party leaders including Hon Ken Imansuagbon (Rice Man) Hon (Chief) Sunny osezuwa Ojiezele (DG-Campàign), Hon Louis (Deputy DG-Campaign), Hon Andrew Akhabue, Hon Andrew Young Ehidiamen(SSA-Governor) Sen Clifford ordia, Hon Joe Edionwe, Sen (Elder) Magnus Odion Ugbesia, Hon Akhere Ugbesia, Hon (Mrs) Magdalene Ohenhen ( Special Adv to Exe Govr on political matters), Princess Edugie Enosoegbe, Hon (Dr) Andrew Ojiemenkele, Hon Lawrence Emiator (SLG- council), Hon (Dr) Tony Aziegbemhin (State PDP-Chairman), Chief Dan Osi Orbih ( S.South Chairman PDP), Hon Ceasar (State exc PDP) Bar Lawson Ogedegbe ( Member- state Exco-PDP) and so on.
The rally was climaxed on a historic farewell as the entire ward-1 people told the the Executive Governor Godwin Obaseki/Comrade Philip Shaiubu to “Carry-Go” their reelection is a done deal…..The team proceeded to ward-2…….
